Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin (Uspenskiy Sobor) is the main Russian Orthodox cathedral in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It was originally built in 1871. Initially constructed as a small church on the grounds of a military hospital, the cathedral was expanded in 1879. During World War II, it served hospital functions, and after the war, it was reopened as the central Orthodox place of worship in Tashkent. The bell tower was rebuilt in 2010. Today, it stands as a prominent religious and architectural landmark, featuring traditional Russian Orthodox design with blue domes and golden crosses.
