Nadir Devanbegi Madrasah
The Nadir Devanbegi Madrasah is a 17th-century architectural monument located on the eastern side of the Lyabi Hauz complex in Bukhara. Built between 1622 and 1623 by Nadir Devanbegi, vizier to Imam Quli Khan of Bukhara, the structure was originally intended as a caravanserai but was later converted into a madrasah by royal decree. Its facade features glazed bricks adorned with birds and animal motifs — a rare element in Islamic architecture. The courtyard opens directly from the entrance, and the eastern end lacks the traditional iwan, further hinting at its caravanserai origins. Today, the madrasah hosts craft shops and cultural events.
