Barakhan Madrasah

Barakhan Madrasah is a 16th-century religious and architectural monument located in the Hazrati Imam complex in Tashkent. Commissioned by Navruz Ahmad Khan (Barakhan), a descendant of the famed astronomer Ulugh Beg, the madrasah was completed in 1532. The complex includes the main educational building and two adjoining mausoleums. It once served as the headquarters of the Muslim Spiritual Board of Central Asia. Among its most treasured artifacts is the 7th-century Osman Quran — one of the oldest surviving copies of the Islamic holy book.
