State Museum of History of Uzbekistan
The State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent, was founded in 1876 and is one of Central Asia’s oldest and most comprehensive historical museums. Originally established as the National Museum of Turkestan, it later served as the Lenin Museum during the Soviet era. Today, it houses over 250,000 artifacts spanning Uzbekistan’s history — from the Stone Age and Zoroastrianism to the Kushan Empire, the Timurid dynasty, Soviet rule, and post-independence developments. The museum also functions as a center for scientific research and cultural education.
