Dashoguz Velayat Local History Museum
The Dashoguz Velayat Local History Museum, originally founded in 1974, opened its new, distinctive three-story, white marble building with a cone-shaped dome ten years ago in June. Blending national architectural traditions with modern innovation, the museum now preserves its collection of over 12,000 objects—including archaeological finds, ethnographic rarities, and historical documents—in optimal, technologically equipped conditions. Its most valuable treasures are artifacts discovered during the Khorezmian Archaeological and Ethnographic Expedition. The permanent exhibition covers four themes: archaeology and ethnography, nature and fine art, and the region’s present-day development. Fully modernized, the museum features interactive screens, a 140-seat conference hall with a simultaneous interpretation system, and is currently developing audio guides and a virtual tour via its online portal, solidifying its role as a key cultural landmark.
