The Neutrality Monument
The Neutrality Monument (Garaşsyzlyk binasy — Independence Monument) is a landmark located in the center of Ashgabat, built in 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. Its design is inspired by traditional Turkmen tents and bridal headwear. The Independence Monument consists of a 91-meter-high concrete column topped with a 27-meter-high gold-colored steel composition. Inside the structure, there are exhibition halls displaying artworks that illustrate the history of Turkmenistan. The monument is situated within an 84,500 m² area, adorned with a statue of Saparmurat Turkmenbaşy, a tiered fountain, statues of 27 heroic leaders, and surrounding green landscaping. The structure of this building symbolizes the Turkmen people's pride in their independence and their cultural heritage.
