Ismaili Centre
The Ismaili Centre in Dushanbe is the first of its kind in Central Asia and one of six official Ismaili Centres worldwide. Opened in 2009, it stands as a cultural and architectural landmark in Tajikistan’s capital. Designed to foster spiritual and intellectual growth, the centre offers not only prayer spaces but also facilities for conferences, lectures, and cultural performances. Inspired by Samanid architecture, it was designed by Farouk Noormohamed and features traditional brickwork, wood carvings, and vibrant ceramic tiles. Located on Ismoili Somoni Avenue, the building incorporates sustainable technologies such as water-based heating and cooling, a flexible roof diaphragm, and energy-efficient systems. The Dushanbe Ismaili Centre serves as a bridge between the local Ismaili community and the global Ismaili network.
